About
Born in London Simon Tarrant is a fine artist currently
working from his studio in Chelsea. He has exhibited in some of the
world’s most prestigious art galleries including the Royal Academy of
Art and the Saatchi Gallery.
Bold and swift use of oil is characteristic of Simon’s paintings
allowing him to capture the diverse qualities of the landscape that has
inspired him. Humphrey Ocean RA commented that the brooding passion
within Simon’s work is “evocative of August Strindberg’s paintings, for
their sense of foreboding”.
A finalist of the Davy Portrait Awards, Simon is a versatile painter.
Moving away from the gestural marks and colours that typify his
landscapes, Simon explores a more delicate style and palette. Simon’s
portrait commissions include Welsh politician Lord Dafydd Wigley,
English actor Moray Watson and soprano Lucy Crowe.
